Alright – so people say that opposites attract. But commonalities also bring people together. So what happens when it comes to pets?
Even if you like both dogs and cats, most people are either a dog person or a cat person. What are you? Is your SO/FI/DH the same, or does he prefer the other animal?
Please check all answers that apply in the poll above (trying to be able to cover all potential senarios) and feel free to explain in the comments below!
For the record – Darling Husband and I are both dog people and own a dog. He had both dogs and cats growing up and has a soft spot for cats too, but would still consider himself a dog person.

Poll isn’t there??
I like both, but I’m really a dog person. So is Darling Husband (but then, he’s allergic to cats).

We are both dog people. He doesn’t mind cats but I am highly alergic to them so I’m not a fan.

We are both pet people… and I think we both LOVE having both dogs and cats. But at the end of the day I can live without cats but I NEED to have a dog. Fiance could prob live without a dog but NEEDS to have a cat.
Works out for me bc he does the litter box!

Fiance and i are both huge dog fans and don’t like cats at all. my parents and brother are all super allergic to cats so i was raised to avoid them, and Fiance is a bit allergic to them too. works out very well!

We are both dog people, but that could also be because I am severely allergic to cats and he is slightly allergic. (Look at all us with cat allergies!) Plus, dogs are more fun to play with 🙂

I am a dog person and Darling Husband is a cat person. Although we’ve converted each other so now we’re both both.

We are both cat people who really love dogs as well. If I absolutely had to choose, I’d have a cat first. But now that we have both, it’s hard to “choose” because we love our dog in a different way. I couldn’t imagine life without her. R is the same way, he is more inherently a cat person but loves both.

We are both really cat people. My cat has really taken to Fiance, and vice versa 🙂

Darling Husband used to talk about the pets we would have and he would list a dog, cat, bird and something else I can’t remember – basically an in-house food chain. I nixed everything but the dog because I love dogs and I can’t really be around cats (itchy eyes) and the other critters were too much trouble to think of at this point in time. One monkey is enough for us – our puppy keeps us totally occupied…

I’m a cat person and Fiance is a dog person. We have one of each right now. I do like dogs but they are just so much work. Fiance had always hated cats but he likes ours. I think he just had bad experiences with them growing up.

We’re both dog people, and dislike cats. My dad was allergic so I never had one growing up, but my hubby always had a dog. When I moved in with him and his pup, it was very natural for me and we quickly became our own little family.

I am very much a cat person. Fiance used to be a dog person only, but he likes cats now also.

We have a dog and a cat. We love the dog more.

We are both cat people. We adopted 2 kittens together and have had them for almost 2 years. I don’t know how we lived without them- they are such a part of our family now.
From when we first adopted them:
