We use a rubber silencer around Virgil’s tag. His is just silver, though so there’s no color to rub off.

I use the silver ones that you can get at an engraving store – the coloured tags that you get at the pet store seem a lot softer than the ones at the engraving store. My dogs have lasted well over 2 years. I see you are in Airdrie – I got my last ones at Things Engraved at Marlborough Mall.

We have an AWESOME collar tag for our dog.  It’s called a Boomerang Tag.  They are guaranteed for the life of your pet and are VERY reasonably priced.  They make plastic, brass, or stainless steel tags.  My favorite are the Collar Tags, (that’s what our dog has).  They fit over the collar instead of dangling from it…no annoying jingle and very secure.  They make Collar Tags that fit over a traditional buckle collar or the ones with the big plastic snap (adjustable collars).  Our dog has one an adjustable collar and it has never come off his collar.

@Sunshine23: LOL…our dog is almost always in whatever room we’re in, so I guess there is never any question where he is.  Plus, he’s 80 pounds of not-quite-graceful mutt, so if he IS in another room, we just call him and he comes galloping (loudly) to us, so again, we don’t wonder where he is.  I also like the CollarTags because they don’t fall off…with our foster dogs we have had tags fall off in our home or yard.

I think the traditional tags they sell are guaranteed as far as the engraving goes, too.  If you don’t mind the jingle, that’s an option for you.

LOL that tag is a dead ringer for my dog’s tags when I was growing up…only your dog’s is in better shape. Never failed to amaze me how quickly such a little dog could destroy a piece of metal.

I love Boomerang tags.  The plastic or metal do great!  The only reason I’ve ever had to replace tags was to update my contact information on the tag.

There is a new product being developed by Macazu, called TagPodz that will prevent pet tag wear and eliminate fur staining.  It also stops pet tag noise and prevents tags from getting lost.  It will be on the market this summer.  If you are still looking for a solution, please check out our website at http://www.macazu.com as we will be on Kickstarter in the Spring of 2013.

Thanks,

Carol
