So, I have been slowly but surely gathering up my collection of glass to do some absolutely wonderful, vintage inspired centerpieces. (Mostly blue ball jars, some green bottles and vases, and lots of clear glass bottles and jars)
However, because our reception venue has limited options on table cloth colors, I will most likely get stuck with white or ivory tablecloths.
Originally, I was hoping I would come across lots of crochet lace tablecloths that I could dye in pretty colors to use as overlays.
Except then I realized that it was going to take a small miracle to get even a few tablecloths without breaking the bank.
So, I moved on from that and started thinking smaller. I found some bulk lots of doilies on Ebay, and I thought I could dye those instead and either cluster them in the center under the centerpieces to add a little pop of color, or sew them together length wise to create a table runner.
I certainly don’t hate that idea at all- it would give me the feeling of the crochet and the color without having to track down a ton of crochet tablecloths.
But, then I ran across yet ANOTHER idea. Handkerchiefs. I found a seller on ebay who sells reproduction vintage hankies in huge lots- they’re bright, beautiful, and could also make for a beautiful addition to my centerpieces.
So, I want to know what you bees think. Doilies or Handkerchiefs?
