I hear ya. I’m DIYing mine, but the look that I’m going for is pretty simple and the only truly “arranged” bouquet will be my own. I got a quote the other day from a farm for 4 bouquets and 6 bouts that is the top of my budget. I can buy my own and get much more of the exact flowers I want for less if I DIY.

Check out 50flowers.com, even if you don’t order from them. They have great tips on how to keep your flowers fresh once they arrive.

Have you shopped around for pricing from non-florist places? We’re getting our flowers from a local high-end grocery store, and from what friends tell me, we’re paying about 1/3 or what they paid for similar arrangements from actual florists.  A friend used this same store last year, and the flowers were every bit as gorgeous as any from a regular florist, and so much cheaper, but saved the hassle of making the bouquets and trying to keep them fresh.  The only caveat is they don’t deliver (at least ours doesn’t), so you’ll have to designate someone the morning of the wedding to pick them all up.

We ordered bulk roses from Sam’s online, they were gorgeous. My day-of coordinator set ours up, but I was with her from the trial (we made one bride’s bouquet) and it was really simple. She just took off the leaves, cut the stems, wrapped with ribbons, and pinned down the sides with pearl pins.

For the bouts we just used a rose each and some greenery from the flower mart with a corsage pin through it.

I don’t know what kind of flowers you want, but if you use just one kind it does not take a long time to arrange them and there’s not a ton of room for error! We did about 2 dozen roses for my bouquet and a dozen for each Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquet.

There was a really helpful youtube video on making a bouqet, but can’t find it now in my bookmarks (pre-pinterest!)
