Is your skin blemsh prone? I found that all MAC foundations break me out. So try out the foundation a few times before the big day. Also watch lots of YouTube videos. You can also book makeup classes wherein a makeup artist teaches you how to apply makeup. I’ve seen them in Booksey and Vagaro(appointment booking apps).

I used to love Revlon Colorstay, but the new formula doesn’t give the coverage it used to, so now I’m meh about it.

I’d go for a good primer, I like the photofinish ones, they make my skin appear far smoother than it is. Try to avoid anything with SPF because that can give you a white face in pics. You can also let you skin look more natural and just use a tintd moisturizer/bb cream. It’s okay to look more natural in your pics.

Definitely a foundation with no SPF, or one that you test that it doesn’t have flashback in photos. Makeup Forever Ultra HD is good for this, or MAC Studio Fix.

A good primer and setting spray will make it last a lot longer, as well as setting with a translucent powder. Laura Mercier is my favorite transluscent powder – this should also help your makeup from breaking up in your problem areas. I don’t have a favorite primer, but I really like the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray.

Defintely some false lashes. I wore subtle ones on my wedding day and they still looked very natural, but showed up more in pictures.

Setting spray is your friend! I’m a fan of both Urban Decay Oil Slick sprayed onto skin after moisturizing and then I also sprayed it after I was done with foundation, concealer and powder, and then the All Nighter once everything is done.

The cheapo me now uses make up primer (currently Smashbox photo finish that I bought on sale or I liked Milani Prime Shield) before foundation, and then Milani Make It Last Setting Spray to set.

Eye shadow primer is also your friend! I liked the Nars, Urban Decay, or Milani.

Setting spray for sure! My favorite is an Urban Decay, though I can’t remember sepcifically which one…

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage. This *does* have spf in it, but I have never found it to be problematic.

A cheapo suggestion for lips…if you are a matte lipstick lover, try NYX matte lipstick or their Lingerie matte line. These lipsticks last me for HOURS even through eating and drinking.

I second the false lashes. I had my makeup done, so they applied individual lashes for me, but absolutely get some. Ardell is my go-to.

Seconding a lot of PPs a good primer, a good setting spray and a foundation without SPF. I find MAC eye shadows are the best ones for me not smudging, going crinkly, being highly pigmented and having a lot of lasting power. I love my Stila liquid liner for staying power, no budging, can survive tears and goes on easy. The Kat Von d everlasting liquid lipsticks have good staying power for me, I also like the Maybelline 24/7 ones as well for staying power.

Lisa Eldridge has some really good youtube tutorials for doing photography makeup.

My go to products when I am a bit oily are YSL all hours foundation, tarte shape tape concealer, Laura mercier translucent setting powder and urban decay all nighter setting spray. They are all a bit pricey, but 100% worth it in my opinion.

I find MAC shadows last the best.

If you’re wanting to do falsies I’d go with individual lashes or get a strip lash and cut them in sections. I agree with PP that Ardell lashes are great

Urban Decay has excellent eye shadow primers.  I use the moisturizing one.  And ELF has a moisturizing under eye primer that I swear works like a champ and you can get for about $3.50 at Amazon.

I second any primer from Smashbox.  Just pick the one most suitable for your skin type. I just started using their oil primer as my aging and retin a using skin is getting dry now.  Love it. I also use the green color correcting primer to balance out some red splotches (super sensitive skin). Another nice one is Hourglass Veil, gives you a really smooth finish.  Amazon has that, too.

My foundation is Coola, they make primarily sunscreen products.  It doesn’t settle into the fine lines the way Estee Lauder was starting to do.

ITA about falsies.  My current favorite mascara is Marcelle.  I swear, I have tried them all.  This one does not clump and does not go raccoon.

Niftiest new gadget—a silicone makeup sponge.  It’s silicone on one side and sponge on the other.  You use the silicone side to apply foundation and the sponge side to blend. Makes a much nicer finish.  The silicone doesn’t absorb your foundation, just glides it on.  You can, of course, get one at Amazon.

I’ll second the Hourglass, Smashbox and Laura Mercier recommendations made by PP’s. Not the cheapest options but I used my wedding as justification to spend a bit more on good quality products.

tabithat29 :  The bees have given great product suggestions but I wanted to chime in to sincerely advise against DIYing your wedding makeup.

I’m not doubting your skillfullness in makeup but that day goes SO fast, the likelihood is that you will running behind (as most brides do), and you may be nervous. DIY everything else, but nothing on the day of. Leave that day for being pampered and being the bride exclusively.

If cost is an issue, search around. You can find incredible MUAs for reasonable prices. I spent  $50 on mine and she was AMAZING.

tabithat29 :  I have pretty oily/combination skin and I have been on the hunt for foundation for years. I just found Estee Lauder Double Wear and it is amazing!!. Nothing, I mean NOTHING has ever kept the shine off my face all day and even late into night before bed there still is barely any oil. I highly recommend you try a sample! I also don’t have the best skin and this gives me a beautiful finish. I already asked my makeup artist to use it on me for my wedding day, that’s how much I love it. Good luck with your search!

tabithat29 :  hands down, Laura Mercier Flawless Finish foundation is sooo good, photographs beautifully, and lasts through anything. I apply with a dampened beauty blender. I also think Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes last the longest (I recommend Exposed if you are fair-mediumas it is a very neutral color and lasts all day). False lashes or a lash lift will also make your photos great! I have more recs, so hit me up if you want to hear ❤️
