The Excellence resort there is amazing, but I would check the reviews on trip advisor, they are so helpful!!  July will be SUPER hot there..

The 2 places I have heard good things about and have looked at briefly are Majestic Colonial and the Hard Rock there… Good Luck!

I was in Punta Cana in November and stayed at the Hard Rock. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Secrets and Zoetry are both amazing. I wound’t hesitate to stay at either of those.

The beaches in Punta Cana are amazing. Some of the areas outside the resorts are less than desirable.

Do NOT stay at Magestic Elegance. Not only did Darling Husband and I both get sick there, but all the people I talked to while we were there had the same problem. It is hard to feel romantic when you are running to the bathroom every two seconds.

I’ve been keeping my eye on the Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Punta Cana. We are deciding officially by the end of this month where we will be going. The only bummer is, it’s not adults only. Oh well, I’m sure I’d get over it once I saw the beach!

I did not enjoy the Hard Rock for a couple of reasons.

First, it’s huge! It looks and feels very much like a Vegas hotel. While there were several dining options, the food was mediocre at best. I am a vegetarian, and so I could have the pasta or the cheese quesidilla, but that was about it.

The resort recently switched over to a Hard Rock, and there was still a lot of work going on. Oh and the beach was a good 10 minute walk from our room. Again, it’s a mega resort.

If I were going to Punta Cana, I would stay at Zoetry or Secrets. Maybe Dreams if I had my daughter with me. But I did not enjoy the Hard Rock.

I have been there before for work and its a beatiful place but the whole area outside the resort is deffiently 3rd world counrty.

When i first went i stated at the pardisus punta cana, its a very nice place but is an expensive stay for an all inclusive.

Now that i am planning the honeymoon i decieded to go back and am working with a max of 5000k including airfair.

My top two choices are:

Iberostar punta cana – both hotels look great and have great reviews and are reasonably priced for an all inclusive.

My second and most favorite choice is the Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, im leaning more towards number two as its just an amazing place!

Good luck!

i am staying at the hard rock in punta cana the first week of april.

i have heard nothing but amazing reviews about it, and our travel agent was the one who recommended it as she said she has been there several times with her family.

yes, it is large, and many have said that it feels similar to a vegas hotel–but that’s not something we mind! it is still a beautiful resort on a beautiful beach–it’s just really over the top.

i am not a vegetarian, so am not worried about the food. i am really looking forward to the trip.

@Bride2BJuly2011: i know that the hard rock has tons of restaurants, multiple pools, a spa (or a couple), a golf course, and tons of activities. if you’re in to gambling, there is a ton of that too! i would definitely check it out–because i think it will be a blast!

i am not sure how much it costs there, because the stay at the resort was a gift from my parents and our airfare was a gift from his parents. do you know roughly how much it costs to stay there?
