The engagements definitely seem to cluster together with people I know. A couple weeks after Fiance and I got engaged we were actually present at another friends proposal, plus I knew a couple other people that got engaged around the same time. A mutual friend had been helping to plan both FI’s and our friends proposals but neither of them had any idea they were planning so close together. This summer it seems like all the facebook status engagement announcements I saw took place within two weeks.

happybunny177:  yep, I have definitely noticed that.  I think in a lot of cases it is that men especially see their friends settling down and they decide it’s time to settle down too.  In my FI’s group of friends, once one got married, three more got engaged within the year! I know my Fiance was inspired by the first wedding, I can imagine the others were too

The first of my high school friends got married pretty early (between our junior and senior years of college) and the same day of the wedding, another girl from the group and her boyfriend went to the mall and picked out her ring and they were officially engaged within the next couple days. So yes, I think it happens! No domino effect from me, as I’m toward the tail end of my friends getting married.
