So, I am going through my closets, and MAN is there a lot of stuff that I just don’t need.
I came across my wedding dress from 2009. It’s beautiful, I loved it, it’s in fairly good condition. But I don’t need to hold on to it anymore, and I’d like the space!
I looked online for places to donate wedding dresses to, but the only places I’ve found so far want dresses that are 5 years old or newer. And I get it – you want to keep things new, fresh, etc. And while my dress isn’t *the latest* style, I don’t think it looks super dated. Of course, I could be biased!
At any rate, it would feel wrong to just dump it in the garbage. Anyone know of any places that would accept a dress that’s a bit older as a donation? (I live in NYC if that helps…)

What kind of places have you looked at? I’d be interested as well.
I found this list – I assume Goodwill and some of the other thrift shops won’t have the 5 year limit?

There are probably other alternatives but I remember reading about this one.

Curious what your dress looks like?
My sister got married in 1996 and was tickeled a few months ago when she attended a good friend’s son’s wedding and the bride insisted on wearing her FMIL’s dress. FMIL’s dress happened to be the exact same dress my sister wore 20 years ago! I think you’re not wrong to want to donate a dress from 2009 somewhere instead of trashing it. You never know who might LOVE it!
