I’m thinking about donating my wedding dress. It’s been about a year and a half since the big day and my dress just hangs in the back of my closet. I feel sentimental about my dress and it makes me a little sad to think about giving it away. BUT if it could help another bride I think it would be worth it. So, I’m starting to research organizations in my area to donate to. Has anyone else donated their dress? Which organization did you choose and why? Are you happy with your decision? 🙂

I gave two dresses to http://www.bridesacrossamerica.com. I attached a note to the new bride that had my name and address and a note to the bride. I’ve had three letters back from brides (one was a tea length and it was redonated back) who’ve worn my dresses. I highly recommend them.

I’ll look into them! I wish I would have thought of this sooner. My dress was in Sarasota, FL at my parent’s house which is where brides against breast cancer’s headquarter is located. Unfortunately I brought my dress with me when I moved to Pittsburgh. Did you mail your dress to brides across america?

I don’t know if you have this sort of thing in the USA but the hospital where I work (UK Midwife here) gets Bridal dresses made into “angel gowns” for babies that are born sleeping. I know that’s what I want to do with my dress once I’m married! It’s a wonderful cause very close to my heart.
What a wonderful thing you’re doing no matter who is lucky enough to recieve your dress!!

I did FedEx because my dad gets really cheap shipping through them with his business account. I chose them to donate to because of my family’s military connections and the wonderful notes from the brides I received just cemented to me that they were the right choice.

I hadn’t heart about bridesaccrossamerica.com but I will be doing that!

I always said I’d be donating here once the wedding is over:
Basically they turn your dress into little outfits for babies that don’t make it out of the hospital. I just love that they do that.
