I haven’t heard of anything saying not to for TTC. I did last mth and had no issues so I hope not!

I’m not a medical professional, but I’m not sure that I would donate blood while TTC.  I would surely ask your doctor, though!

Here is the thing, there are no guidelines for donating blood while TTC. I donated bc I knew for a fact that I was not pregnant, ie took a test, it was negative and then received my period. If you do not know if you are pregnant or are in the phase past ovulation and waiting to know, then NO. Because pregnant women actually can not donate blood because you can deplete you and your growing wonder of important iron and nutrients. It does seem a little confusing but if you are for sure you are not pregnant then there is no risk but to feel safe, maybe you should not. I did it bc it was on a personal level an emergency and a family need and there is currently a shortage where we are at. So that trumped all neysayers.

Sounds like you made a wise decision, ecoastrunner.  The local blood drives call for me to donate pretty regularly, since I’m a negative type, but this last time, I had to tell them I was pregnant and when I was due, so they won’t bother me for a while.  I don’t mind giving, but I prefer not to be bothered to do so, you know?
