- Wedding: June 2008
I just wanted to share with the hive an idea I had…. since we’re having a quasi-destination wedding (having the wedding where we live but not where we’re from), I figured that not many guests will be taking centerpieces home with them. So, I called up a local hospice to see if they would like the flowers as a donation. Turns out they’re so grateful that they’re going to send volunteers out (way out of town) to pick them up the next day.
In case you don’t have plans for your flowers after the wedding, please think about donating them to a hospice, hospital, or old folks’ home. I figured if I put this idea out there and one bride does it, that many more days will be brightened.
I was surprised that my florist and no one I asked in my area had ever heard of this….but then again, I’m a social worker 🙂
