I had worn my hair long for several years. In October I decided to make a big change and cut my hair to chin length. I love it! It seems like before, so much time went into maintaining my hair. It was almost like taking care of a pet! Now I wash and go and if I want to glam it up, I can still style it really nice in about 5 minutes. I’ve been debating if I want to grow it back out some for the wedding, but I like it so much short I have a feeling I am going to keep it this way.

LOL, that’s what I do with my hair now–I wash and condition, but other than brushing, that’s the extent of my hair care regimen. It’ll be nice not to comb through two feet of tangles every night, though.

My FH has always been into my long hair, so imagine my surprise when he stood with the stylist encouraging her to get it as “short and punky” as possible! lol She even let him use the clippers a little! He loved it. In general he loves long hair, but he also loves really funky styles, so he loved this haircut.
Gorgeous hair! Love that color 🙂 I am thinking there is red in my future this year 🙂

sorry, I don’t have pictures! the three times I drastically cut my hair, it was due to:
first time: major hair dye damage
second time: a bad haircut that needed to be fixed
third time: I just wanted short hair
each time, I went from a chin length bob to a 1 1/2″ pixie cut. each time, I liked it for about a week and then hated it.
for me personally, I’ve learned my lesson– never cut my hair shorter than my jaw!

Funny, I was babbling last night in the chat thread (under the influence of scotch and vodka) about wanting to cut my hair.
I had long hair through jr. high and high school, and during my freshman year of college got it cut to about chin length (maybe shorter). It was my “Felicity” cut. 🙂 I let it grow out soon after. Since then, I’ve had it between my armpits and almost my waist. Right now, it’s near my bra strap. When I get it cut, it’s usually 2-4 inches, not really drastic with long hair.
I’ll probably wait till summer approaches to get it cut.

Second time I’ve chopped it all off. A friend was going through a salon training program and needed someone with hair below their shoulders.
So I got a free perm. But it began getting all frizzy, so I lopped off most of it. Now I’m growing it out again for the wedding. Then I’ll chop it off and (hopefully) sell it.
(Sorry for the giant pictures! I haven’t posted any on here before and don’t know how to resize them!)

I love the line of your cut!

Thanks! She cut it A-line…so it was about an inch or two longer in the front then slowly arched to being shorter in the back.
First time I got it cut I chopped it to just below my ears. A-line and then buzzed the whole back so it was an inch short (so I could spike it out).
Bleached the whole thing.
Then all bright magenta in the front and black in the back.
Then went all blue in the front and black in the back.
Then red in the front and black in the back.
Then all blue.
Then all pink.
I miss those days.

I’ve cut my hair from past shoulder length to about 2 inches long all over (a couple of times). However, I don’t have pictures to compare the two.
I’ll probably never cut it that drastically again. I liked how easy it was to do, but it didn’t look right on me since I’m so durn tall. Plus, my Fiance is afraid of really short hair on me. lol

I dyed my hair rainbow red in college because I knew I’d never be able to do it again (I went into teaching). I kind of miss having a freedom of expression with my looks!!

Totally with you on that statement! Most places have dress codes that don’t allow for the piercings or interesting hair colors I had. So I took all the piercings out and let me hair go back to normal.

Aside from cutting it short, I didn’t do anything crazy with my hair in college.

Yea, I went to medium length straight hair to almost bald curly hair!!! It was the process of going natural (yay to all the black girls!) Haha! I really wanted to stop chemically straightening my hair, and the only way to do it… without getting fake hair… was to chop it all off! I nearly cried when it happened, but I love it! It’s been about 5 years and my hair is still extremely short, but it just takes so long to grow with really really tight curls.

I cut my hair all the time. I go from short to long…to short. If you’re not very attached to your hair you should be fine! 🙂

My hair is just past my shoulders now, but I’m thinking of doing something like this after the wedding:
When I was younger my hair was down to my butt, but when I reached middle school I had it cut up to my chin. It was a bad hairstyle then because I had a perm 😛 however now I love my hair short. Most days I wear it up because I hate having it hanging down on my neck.
