I haven’t had anyone say something like that directly to me, but a couple weeks ago one of my friends (who is already thinner than I am) commented that on her wedding day she wants to be “extremely thin” and that she plans on losing a lot of weight because she couldn’t stand people seeing her in a wedding dress unless she lost 20 pounds first.  I was like cool well I’m glad you think I’m going to look hideous.  Sometimes people just suck.

@pinkvalentine: sounds like your friend might have a problem.  the bridorexia is really getting out of control–i am so sad to see so many exhauseted, emaciated brides.  everyone should just try to be happy and healthy.

My 11 year old cousin during her annual trip to visit me said and I quote “you better not take any more vacations before your wedding or you won’t be able to fit into your dress.” Apparently I indulge a bit more when I’m on vacation. Oh from the mouth of babes.

Thankfully I have a corset dress and an uncanny addiction to exercise so I’m not at all worried.

Yup, this is super annoying. Fiance of all people likes to remind me of this! All I can say is, “You worry about your suit and I’ll worry about my dress.”

I went to take a piece of chocolate out of a candy dish at work and this woman said, “you can have one…but no more.   You need to wear a wedding dress soon.”  She’s a really nice woman and I’m pretty sure she was just saying it try and relate to me…but still, it hurts.  I put myself under enough pressure.  I don’t need it from anyone else.

I love how people say things like this to you, as if it’s something you don’t know.  Like you aren’t already considering every morsel that passes your lips.  Seriously?  I know I have a wedding dress to wear.  Mind your own business!

my mom recently suggested i eat just a can of tuna a day to lose weight.  “it won’t kill you”.

@Mrs. Meowerson: lol! my friend used to eat a can of tuna everyday for lunch (along with a regular breakfast and dinner) until he started suffering from acute mercury poisoning! Started being super forgetful and realized that was a symptom.

A lot of my friends are paleo so I’ve given the low carb diet a whirl and so far have lost about 10 lbs. His family is upset I don’t indulge more, and think I’m crazy for giving up bagels. I’m expecting my family will make some light jabs once my dress comes in… we’ll see.

People are insecure about their weight, and I think they just have different (rude!) ways of showing it.

Ah, if only people learned to keep their mouths shut, the world would be a better place.

Any time my BF says anything about me eating too much, too much junk food, etc., I very pointedly get double whatever was already in my hand or on my plate.  May not be good for my waistline, but it’s pretty funny to see his reaction.  It’s taught him to appreciate it more when I’m doing things in moderation. Laughing
