So, there’s a dress I really, really like, but haven’t been able to try on. It’s a David’s Bridal dress, and at one shop they had it in a 12 and wouldn’t let me (size 18-22) try it on. The other shop I went to didn’t have it at all. I called a 3rd and they have it in a 14. She looked to see what sizes other stores have, none of them have it above a 14. I would have to order the dress in my size just to try it on and see if I like it. They say I can try on similar ones, but that would require them having a similar one also available in my size. Ugh…

@HonoraryNerd: I totally understand where you are coming from and I decided I am going to try on dresses that fit me well and decided from there. Most of the dresses that are in the style I like (that are popular right now) are fit/flare or that type and wouldn’t look good on me. I want lace and it seems all the lace dresses are too fitted. I am having a hard time finding ‘thee dress’

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Can you ask the store that didn’t have it at all to get it closer to your size to try on? They could always keep it as a sample…your size isn’t unusual.

I already asked. They said I had to order it. They couldn’t just bring it in.

Could you just order it and then return it? I know they have a much easier return policy on online dresses. If you buy at the right time and return it quickly with a credit card, you might be able to do it all before the bill is due.
