My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 1/2 years, we are serious about our life together and he wants to buy a ring 🙂 I am very happy about this but I can’t make a decision to save my life. I want to have a say in what style but everything I look at is so beautiful, it is becoming more stressful than exciting. Any tips on how the process went for others. Thank You!

Have you been trying rings on at jewelry stores or just browsing online? I couldn’t really make up my mind until I started trying them on!
Another thing you could do is get a solitaire and agree that you’ll get a different setting in a few years so there’s less pressure! If all else fails, just keep trying it on. For me, it was sort of like shopping for a wedding dress. I couldn’t decide until I tried on my ring, and then I drug Darling Husband into the jewelry store that night!

i was in that boat once upon a time, I didn’t know what I wanted but I knew I didn’t want something like i had tried on in all the stores. I ended up finding a beautiful unique ring on etsy. Have you started looking at alternitive places yet?
Sometimes the style of ring you get can/should depend on what you are going to do with it. Example. Bezel settings are better for people who work with thier hands or have to wear gloves often. many times people who plan on having children or work with children will opt for a very low setting with out prongs to get caught on things. Those kind of factors can also help you determine what is best for you.

Honestly, I think you should go try on some rings. I thought I had an idea of what I wanted, but it changed COMPLETELY once I got them on my hand. Thankfully Fiance & I had already decided to pick one together, then let him take the wheel for the actual enagagement, so he didn’t mind me trying them on. It was jo.lee said, it’s kinda like a dress, when you try on the right one, you’ll know (for me it was the second time I tried it on, since I overlooked it the first time I looked at it).
More than anything, enjoy the process with your (soon-to-be) Fiance. It’s great fun to do together since you (probably) won’t have him along dress shopping. DO NOT let this stress you out! Think about it, you’re going to be GETTING MARRIED!!! AHHHHH!!!! Just enjoy trying on pretty sparkly rings!
(Another thing to think about, will you be living in the same area for a long time? The reason I ask is because most of the time when you buy a ring like this, you will buy diamond insurance with it which requires you to take your ring in every 6 months to be examined. If you are going to be moving soon, you should just look at national chains that will have a store in the new home. If you are in a more permanent place, then smaller/local places are fine. Or if that doesn’t matter at all, look online – but I think it’s better to try on in store) – I only mention this because it was a huge deal for us since we will be moving within a year of being married (graduating college and all) and influenced our choice of his ring.
