Hmmm… it is free on the beach if 25 guests or less. If we do a resort style one it’s still cheaper for a secluded spot so not open to the public. $1250 for the ceremony. I would have to rent chairs for the free one. Then we could book a reception somewhere! My photog does travel. Less fuss for me with our guest list.
We recently went to Disneyland and it’s the same distance (5.5 hrs) gas was a full tank each way, that’s it and we have an SUV. $80 each way! Fiance and grew up on the beach and we met in the Navy. Totally special to us. I grew up in SD:) I am so loving this idea right now!!!!
My dress is perfect too! The venues here are nice but all the same backgrounds. Desert, cactus, palm trees in the desert LOL. Just want something low key and then a nice dinner party with dancing. I know soome people wouldn’t go but the most important ones will make it there regardless and if on a weekday they could travel on that Sunday and go back Tuesday like we would. Any thoughts?? I just love this idea and it would be next year.

I’m thinking of a SD wedding, too… but I live in LA so it’s a little closer 🙂 I think it’s basically a destination wedding for you, so if you don’t mind most people not coming go for it! Personally, I’d do it on Sunday so people could travel Saturday and only have to take one day off work.

@MexiPino: Oh good idea! I did not even think of that! They can leave after work Friday and leave Monday am or whenever:)

What are the venues? I live in PHX and my wedding is in SD and I can tell you that everything is more expensive in San Diego, all of your vendors, food, etc. You may get a good deal on a venue but trust me, it will not even out! I would have loved to have my wedding in PHX just for the price, but I don’t like it here and we’re moving before the wedding, so it didn’t make sense. I guess if you’re having <30 people it would be affordable, but is your wedding that small?

@RunnerBride13: So far comparing it’s cheaper. We are having a small wedding (47) and if it is in SD the guest list will shrink I am sure. Plus I am asking for a Vet discount to if possible. Fiance and are prior Navy. Might as well ask! Tre Bella here will be about $5k if we do it in December which isn’t an option plus photog and cake. So close to 7k. It goes up in Spring. Inside the Bungalow is ok. But it is on the side of the street and Fiance does not like that. The one place I called today in SD is $1k for the ceremony and $2500 for the reception for 35 guests for April or May. Its Bahia Resort. Hotel Del Coronado is $5500:) I would much rather marry in SD!

@cherryblossomlove: Go for it girl! I know you weren’t loving anything in PHX, and SD is SO BEAUTIFUL! 🙂 Beautiful venue for a beautiful dress!

@cherryblossomlove: DO IT! I think that’s perfect, and a drive from AZ to CA, is nothing. Can’t beat that price either!

@cherryblossomlove: if you and your Fiance are Navy, look into Breakers Beach on base in the Coronado area. I was married atAdmiral Kidd and it was spectacular but not on the beach like you want. Food was good and it was the cheapest place in the area to get married. No sales tax and 5% less service charge. And you’d probably get a break because your in the service.
