I don’t find anything rude about telling a stranger or anyone to please do not touch me or anything of mine. Of course you could word it politely. I find it the same as a stranger touching a pregnant belly. It clearly bothers you so why let it happen? Sometimes people need to be reminded of respecting boundaries.

very true… I have an easier time telling off people I’m close to or family better than strangers…. next time it happens I’ll say something

I get it. I usually have a mini freak out when my husband touches my ring after I just cleaned it. Like full on dramatic slow motion leaping at him “STOOOPPPP!!”

Hope diamond, diamond chip or anything in between….it is just bizarre to touch someone else’s stone.

I LOVE your rant bee! You took the words right out of my mouth. I got engaged less than 1 month ago and I’ve had 2 people (1 colleague and 1 stranger) admire my e-ring by putting their finger directly on top of my solita diamond and pressing down on it. I’d NEVER thought to do that to someone so I just don’t get it!

I wear my mum’s three diamond stone ring and I press on the diamonds with my finger daily (bad habit). But I wouldn’t press on someone else’s stone. Despite the fact that I press on the diamonds almost daily, and have worn the ring almost everyday for 14 years including when sleeping, showering and washing the dishes, and it’s only ever been professionally cleaned about 5 or 6 times over 14 years – my mum’s diamonds are still sparklier than anyone else’s diamond I’ve seen in real life. Her stones are older than 30 years old. My theory is that if you get very high quality diamonds then it will still stay sparkly even if you press on it everyday 🙃

I have had my set for about 3 months and before me someone else had them we bought them used I have not yet seen them shine and sparkle I have never had them professionally cleaned I do it myself weekly or if something special is happening I want me ring to always look great
Hell I know a girl I used to work with whom has never in 10 years cleaned her ring and though it’s pretty it doesn’t sparkle and she couldn’t care less….

My hubby does the same thing! I never say anything though, since he touches my hands so lovingly. It’s a sweet moment and I can always wipe/clean my ring if needed. Strangers though? Nope. Don’t touch. That’s just weird.

I definitely have had people do this before. It’s irritating because my ring is an emerald cut and I feel like it just attracts oil and finger marks!
Luckily most people just ask for a closer look without touching lol.
