Will you post a picture of your previous ring too? I have a 1 carat ruby and I’m sure people will also say it’s too big if I ever upgraded to a 2 carat ruby. Whatever though. If you like it then that’s all that matters.

ETA: I doubt everyone who says this is jealous though like PP have said. I’m sure it’s just the comparison between the two. Your ring is not to my personal taste (and I’m not jealous of it) but I wouldn’t call it too big.

@Inlove2001:  That is a beautiful ring. It sounds to me like comments are being made out of jealousy. Which makes those people rude.The only person who’s opinion matters is your own.

When I got engaged I had to deal with comments made by coworkers, but I just told myself they are jealous, and those who made comments were the ones who talk negative about others frequently, so I don’t care about their opinion.

@Inlove2001:

Them: “your ring is too big!”

You: “No, it fits just fine. We had it sized.”

Or,

“Too big for what, exactly?”

“I’m sure what you meant to say was congratulations on our anniversary”

“I’m so sorry you don’t like our choice. Fortunately, you don’t have to wear it.”

@Cynderbug:  I really don’t think that the size of a ring is an indicator of love. If that’s the case, then my husband must not think I’m very special because my ring has a total carat weight of under a carat.

I think it’s beautiful!! I mean it does look pretty big to me, but I can’t imagine why anyone would say something negative to you unless they were jealous. Haters gonna hate, screw them.

Yep.  My first response is that it’s big but that’s because it’s big.  Personally it’s not my style but who cares?  So long as you like it, then stop listening to other people’s remarks.

@Inlove2001:  Your ring is beautiful! If someone said it was too big I’d [jokingly] say “Well I’ve put in my time!” I mean you’ve been together 10 years! It’s not like you’re 18 and went into debt for it.

Just tell them you love it and it’s perfect for you and, honestly, it sounds like jealousy – but I definitely see why it’d make you uncomfortable. If someone is relentless and won’t let it go, as her how she’d feel if you told her that her ring was too small?

‘Too big’ is very subjective, while it may be too big for them, its not for you and that’s all that matters.

I’d take “big” as a compliment. When people say my rock is big (and it’s smaller than yours!) I am happy.

Your ring is gorgeous… not too big at all.
