I disagree that they’re making comments because they’re jealous.  It sounds like it’s just not their taste.

But it’s YOUR ring, not theirs.  If YOU love it and it makes YOU feel comfortable and pretty, don’t worry what anyone else thinks!

its a gorgeous ring!! no such thing as “too big.”  maybe the size is striking to them because its a huge change from your original ring?  I’m sorry they are being rude about it!  I bet the comments will stop after they get used to seeing your new ring.

I think it is a very pretty ring.  It is big for my taste, but only because I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking around with that much bling!  At the end of the day, you have to love it and if you do, don’t let their opinions phase you.  I’m actually kind of surprised at their responses, considering you’re in Texas.  I thought e-rings ran pretty large in Texas?

Random side note, why do people always jump to the conclusion that others are jealous (not you OP, just other posters in the thread and on other threads)?  I feel like labelling someone’s opinion as “jealousy” is kind of condescending and a way to diss someone else while making yourself look/feel better.  That might be a topic for another thread…

Are you specifically showing it to them, and/or asking what they think? If so, maybe they are just honestly saying what they think and I think that’s fair.

If however you never mentioned it to them and they just suddenly grabbed your hand to tell you your ring is too big, that’s pretty rude.

@Inlove2001:  if you ask me they’re a little jelly jelly. Don’t let them get you down. It’s VERY petty of them to say such negative things about your clearly gorgeous ring. To me, It reflects poorly on their character.

@thejucheidea:  Oh no, that’s not what I meant! I didn’t mean to imply that carat size = quality of love.

My ring carat size is small too, at my own personal request. 🙂 Fiance had wanted to buy a bigger rock but I’m more of a pearl girl than a diamond person.

Your ring is SO beautiful – I think it’s amazing, and it looks great on your finger too.  Shortly after I got engaged, I was working my own jewelry booth at an art walk and a woman commented “That’s a beautiful ring,”  and I gushed and said “Thank you!  We just got engaged, I’m so excited,” and she said, “Well you’re lucky.  I had to WORK for mine.”  I’m mad I even responded, but I gave her a confused look and said, “We’ve been together for six years.”  She goes, “Oh, I guess you did work for it.”

People are idiots – even the one we love, sometimes, unfortunately.  I’m sorry they’re making you feel that way.  Your ring is TRULY beautiful – truly – try not to let them get you down.

@Inlove2001:  I think it’s a beautiful ring, and it’s condusive to representing the milestone that you’ve reached in your marriage.  Everyone’s personal styles and preferences are different, so I wouldn’t take offense to what people are saying.  It really is a beautiful ring and it’s a token that your husband wanted to give you at this point in your marriage…wear it proudly and without uncertainty!

Well, it does look very big so if that’s the look you were going for just take it as a compliement.  Who cares what other people say if you love it anwyays.

@inlove2001 It’s gorgeouuus!!! Hateres are gonna hate…. So don’t even worry about the negative remarks, I’m sure they wouldn’t be saying that if they were the ones wearing it. 😉
