Do you want me to not worry because you’re asking in 10 minutes?  Or is it because it is so far off I shouldn’t waste my time?  Or do you have no idea what you’re doing, but know you want to marry me and want me to relax?

I feel your pain.

Yes I’ve gotten the same response before. I felt like yelling back BUT I AM WORRIED! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!

I took it as “Don’t worry – it will happen.” But when? That is the question… sigh

I would explain to him that “don’t worry about it” doesn’t not settle your mind nor your questions and you need a more complete answer. Honestly, I would not settle for the don’t worry about it because that is a shut-you-up answer. It does nothing and a few weeks or months later you will find yourself at the same discussion again.

Yes I got that answer 10000x. To me, it means he’s started the process. Whether it’s just in his head or he’s actually bought a ring, I don’t know. But— I think it’ a GOOD thing 🙂

@gocubbies: That does make sense because he told me he has it all figured out in his head. ” Dont you worry about it” is what I got after he told me that.

@Shirinjoon: The soon thing drives me crazy. I’ve been hearing “soon” for 6 months now. That’s not “soon”, buddy!

@Anxiouspeanut: my boyfriend told me he “had it all figured out” and would propose within 6 months. he told me that in the begining of Jan. it’s 3 months later and i asked him if he knows how or when he is going to do it, and he told me he hasn’t thought about it yet! and i’m thinking, wait a minute! you told me in Jan. that knew how/ when you wanted to do it. even went so far as to say he had a specific reason he wanted to wait for a few months, like he wanted to do it on a special date or something. what a stinkin’ liar!

My Boyfriend or Best Friend said this to me over the weekend. I was hinting towards our engagement. He told me it would be between now and August. We went to the mall on Saturday and I went to the bookstore while he walked around. When we met up again I not so subtley (?) hinted if he had went into a certain store. He wouldn’t say but just wrapped his arm around me and said “don’t worry about it. It will happen.”

That didn’t sit well with me. I hate when he says that. If guys only know how much girls don’t want to hear that statement.

I cannot tell you how many times I heard that!!!  I think it just means…don’t worry because I will do it, but it will be in my own time.  It will come someday but no amount of your mentioning it will make me do it any faster.  At least, that’s what it meant for my Fiance because believe me, it was mentioned..
