…you find a gorgeous dress in a magazine or online, but you’ve called every store that carries that line within reasonable distance and nobody has a sample? ugh, i REALLY hate that.
on the other hand, it makes it soooooooo satisfying when you DO find it!!! i was looking for sottero & midgley SSM5049 everywhere and finally found it. Fiance and i are going to look at it and hopefully i’ll be able to try it on. i forgot to ask what their sample size was (and by the size charts i’m finding online, i’m a size 14 in S&M), but honestly if i can’t try it on, it’s not that big of a deal. i know that style of gown looks good on my figure, i’m more interested in seeing the detail and quality of the fabric in person, and if i really want to be certain i can always try on other S&M gowns and see how the fit runs. ( know, saying “S&M” looks horrible but it’s too much to type out every time!) it’d be great if i could fit into their sample though.
honestly, i’ve loved this gown since i got married before, in 2007. i drooled over it, thinking “if only” the whole time. i will hopefully be gainfully employed in the very near future, as i’m relocating to an area with a much better job market, so between that and Fiance being securely and well-employed, our wedding budget is somewhat more than mine and Darling Husband1’s was, as Darling Husband1 was self-employed and i was a grad student. (that budget was less than the price of SSM5049 alone, lol.) i was so shocked to see it in another post a few days ago, and immediately went to the site and lo and behold, there it was…not discontinued yet, nearly five years later. i’d looked a couple months ago, but for some reason i thought it was a maggie sottero gown and didn’t even realize that S&M existed, lol.
anyway, just for fun, here are the stock photos. 🙂 it comes in silk white, ivory, champagne, and cameo pink. i’m hoping S&M’s champagne is a little better than the champagne i tried on before (ella bridals…did absolutely nothing for my skin tone, but i just love the color in theory), or maybe the cameo pink might not be too pink. if i’m really lucky, i’ll find it used or at a sample sale in white and have it professionally dyed pale blue. (it’s a silk gown, and silk dyes really well…i won’t attempt it if the beading can’t easily be removed without damaging the gown though, as i’m not sure how beading would like dye, lol.)
