My surname is Fleming and I’d really like to keep some part of this in my new name. My partner’s name is Brookes. Is Fleming Brookes too long, do they go together as names? Please be honest! Thanks! x

It kind of sounds like ‘flaming brooks’ which to me is fricking awesome. 😀 I don’t think it’s too long, but that’s just me.

I think double barrelled names work best when they’re different syllable lengths so yours would be good! Mine would be 2 syllable – 2 syllable and it just doesn’t sound as good to me 🙁

@choubella: I can see why you like your name now, I don’t feel they sound good back to back … i could be bais my last name starts with a B i love beeing at the top of the list and Mrs.Brookes and a ring too it
and when you hear that song by Lorde and she goes you can call me Queen be 😛 when your Mrs brooks you can be queen B
i am gonna miss my B name lol I really always like being 1st in order lol its gonna be werid not being top of the list

I don’t think they sound that good together. Could you take Fleming as a middle name and then be able to use your full name, but still have Brookes as your surname?
Regardless – if you like it, double barrel your name. You’re the one who has to live with it, not any of us.
