I personally love double halos like mrod0321‘s, that are subtle and classy, and almost an illusion double halo (kind of looks like one halo at first glance but then surprise, there’s two!)
I do find most double halos you see look massive and for me personally they are a bit too much, they almost drown the centre stone and I find they can make the centre stone look small and kind of insignificant.
Because of this I much prefer a classy, timeless solitaire for myself. That being said, every girl should have whatever makes them feel the most amazing, so if when you have it on your hand it feels like too much, it might be too much for you personally. If you feel amazing but the reason you are worrying is because you think other people will think it is too much, who cares! I am sure no one on here who has a large double halo cares that I wouldn’t choose it for myself ๐

I personally don’t like double halos or solitaire that much. I feel that double halos take the focus awhile from the center stone. Solitaire are pretty but feels it’s a little boring too. I would go with a single halo. It won’t take the focus awhile from the center stone and would help the center stone shine more without overpowering it.

I think you should get what you like. I like lots of things, but I’m a stickler for them being well made. I would love to see people explore the broad variation in halos that were made in the past and presently. Halos are almost always pave-set stones. It is a fragile setting type that must be babied. Combined with the present trend of bands less than 1.8 mm thick+pave, I worry about the durability over time.
Some great designers that have more unique halos are Marion Rehwinkel (https://www.instagram.com/marionrjewel/), CVB Inspired Design (https://www.instagram.com/cvb.inspired.design/), Sarah Nicole Jewelry (https://www.instagram.com/sarahnicolejewelry/), and many others.
But, if you go with a halo, here’s a few pointers: Each round of the halo should be tilted ~20% from level (beautiful side view, creates better angles), each level should step down a bit, decide if you want and airline or not (make sure the stone and setting accomodate your wish), platinum is better than gold for holding little diamonds, set the girdle of the stone on the halo opening (or not, your choice), figure out what proportions you like (double halo, I like a .5 pointers for row 1 and 1 pointers for row 2), if you want a cushion outer shape – make sure it is curved on the corners-not sharp, you should be able to see the underside of the halo diamond from the bottom (so you can clean them), make sure you have access under the diamond (in the gallery) for cleaning (dirty diamonds drop 2 colors).

I don’t have a ring yet but my ideal ring is a double halo with a super high center stone setting. Solitares don’t do me justice. My personality is bold & daring. I’ve always been known to go against the grain or the norm & I fully believe double halos are meant for those personality types. Go with what you feel is right for you. It’ll be beautiful no matter what.

Here’s my double halo! It has a smaller center stone (.6 carats) but I love it and I feel it isn’t too large. It sparkles like crazy and I get a lot of compliments on it in person.

Love my double halo around my sapphire. I wouldn’t do a double halo with a diamond in the center though. Then it all blends together in my opinion. But I love my double halo.
