Heatherh103: and I don’t think $20 / person is enough. I think upgrades AND $20 a person. If you are having 100 people at your wedding then that’s only $2000. The dude at the venue will be make HEAPS more then that with the 2 weddings, that is why he wants to inconvenience you with changing the date. Ask for all the upgrades and get what you want, they have a chocolate fountain..get a chocolate fountaiin. They have a 5 course option and you paid for 3, get the 5 course option. MILK them

I think my sell out price would be at least 35% off, upgrades (i.e. extra apps, fancy linens, etc), and additional costs incurred by changing dates with any other vendors.  Not sure what kind of venue you’re using, but if it’s something like a hotel I would ask for a free room/upgrade for that evening as well.  Just remember, your venue stands to lose an entire day of business if you don’t agree to the switch, so get everything that you can.

At this point I would do it 100% I’m a year out so I think my other vendors could accomodate. I’d tell the venue to let me call all my other vendors, see if they could accomodate then, if the venue composated me enough that I felt the hassle was worth it, I would do it for sure ex: upgrade menu at no extra cost, free dessert table etc. Saving money has never been so important to me as it is now that I’m planning a wedding lol

I would need a better deal than $10 off a person to go to the trouble of changing everything.  I figure my time is worth a lot more than that.

Heatherh103:  If we didn’t have a strong sentimental attachment to our date, no paper products had been printed (STD, Invite, anything date related) and all our other vendors were available for the new date, Mr. S and I would totally do it but again, like a PP said, milk it for what it’s worth.  You need to find out how much, if anything, your other vendors would charge to change your date then total that up and add it to what he’s already offering you, plus ask for $20/pp off instead of $10.

Worst case?  He says no.  Which is really no skin off your back – you didn’t need/want to change to begin with, right?  That’s all the owner.

You still haven’t addressed whether or not this negatively impacts your VIPs and other guests.  When are you getting married as it stands?
