@miss-spunkin:  The name we’ve picked for our little boy is a short form/nick name….but we only like the short form, so we’re just naming him that.  As a teacher, I will also say that it is a bit confusing in school when a kid has a name on the attendance that is longer but no one calls them that.  As a supply teacher, I call out the name on the paper and then the class laughs because they only know the kid as the short name, but think it’s funny that he/she has a different name on the attendance.

Anyone from Massachusetts has heard of Jacoby!  I prefer it with a “y” though.

I met a little boy, Jacoby, a couple years ago and when I was a child I had a Jacolby in my class. I really like both names, I say go with what feels right.

I like it.  That name doesn’t even enter the realm of “out there” names in my mind.

I’ve never heard of that name, but I actually like it.  I keep saying it outloud to myself because it just sounds awesome.  (**nerd alert**)

And you’re right, Cobi is more common and more likely to be pronounced right…and now your baby will have the choice of what he prefers to be called.

Don’t doubt it!

And good luck with everything! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like the name. It’s much better than most of the ones I’ve heard lately.

Agreed w/ everyone – it’s uncommon but not weird.

And I’m not from Massachussetts but I’m a big baseball fan and the first person I thought of was Jacoby Ellsbury of the Red Sox. He’s a cutie too. ๐Ÿ™‚

What about just Cobi? It sounds like you are rarely going to use the full name anyways ๐Ÿ˜‰
