Anyone remember the other day when I posted that we had found our wedding bands…well, now I’m not so sure.
I went into wedding band shopping wanting this:
My engagement ring is near identical to the one above. As it turns out, my eng. ring is only 2 mm and I have such tiny fingers that I can’t fit/don’t want anything wider than 2 mm for a wedding band. In order to have a band like the one above they have to cut it super thin and the diamonds lose all sparkle.
So then, I considered this…
I tried on something like 25 prong set wedding bands and was never 100%. I knew I wanted diamonds (that was why I got a solitaire eng. ring in order to have a blingy wedding band) esp. because I want to be able to wear it on its own and I love the look of a plain diamond band.
With all that being said…do those diamonds take away from my GORGEOUS center stone??
So here’s option 3…
A classic plain band alongside my engagement ring. I’m resisting this because it wasn’t what I thought I wanted, but a part of me really loves the simplicity of this look.
Which would you choose?

I can see your dilemma, trouble is, I like them all! Lol. I think each band goes well with your ering but also has a different “look” about it. I didn’t vote because I can’t choose! Sorry, I’m not much help :/

Plain metal is always the winner in wedding bands to me… this situation is no exception, that would look great.
If you REALLY wanted to add diamonds, baguettes go much nicer with emerald cuts than round melee does.

You’re 100% sure on a 2mm band? It seems If you gave in to a little thicker you could get the dream band you want (which I vote for)
To answer if the prong band takes away- no, but I don’t think it compliments It as well as the baguett ring.

I really like the plain band with your e-ring.
Perhaps shoot for an anniversary band that is entirely different that you can wear alone? I’m probably going to go that route myself.

@FutureMrsMcLaughin: I seriously have like zero room for a band any larger. And when I do wear one it ends up make a skin roll around my knuckle and I detest that!!
I suppose I shouldn’t have added the dream ring to the poll since it doesn’t seem like a possibility.
@solidarity: This is definitely a thought! Not to mention how much money we’d save by doing a plain band instead of a diamond one.
@joya_aspera: I feel like my type a self goes nuts with the combo of emerald cut + rounds. I think that’s what was making me hesitate.

I like the the pave diamond band you have. I don’t think it takes away from your center stone at all. 🙂 And it looks great on its own.

I have an emerald cut too (3 stone) and I think I’m going to go with a plain band. I was considering one like the top one you showed, but had issues with the thickness as well. A big, beautiful emerald cut stone like yours doesn’t need many accessories! I’d get the plain band, and the good news is they’re cheap so you can upgrade on an anniversary 🙂

I love love love the baguette band!

I would definitely do stepcuts or plain metal with your ring. You asked if the round diamond band takes away from your pretty ering and unfortunately I would have to say it does.

@starla: I think you don’t realize how much it takes away from the stone, until you see it with a band that has emerald cuts or baguettes- they make my eng. ring look incredible, but the rounds just seem to clutter it.
@BrandNewBride: Me too!! I wish it could be made thin enough- I’m going to do a major search and see if I can find anything.
@RunnerBride13: If I were to have a 3 stone emerald cut I’d without a doubt do a plain band, 3 stone emeralds are so spectacular on their own. I never expected this to be so difficult!

The prong set diamond band is my favorite by far!!! It’s adding nice sparkle without being too much. Love a single diamond band worn alone as well. Here’s mine, which is dainty and so comfortable to wear 🙂

I like the contrast between your diamond and the round prong set band!

I voted plain band. I love the baguette band most, but if you can’t have it the same width as your ering then i wouldn’t pick it. Too bad, though. Plain band would look great 🙂
