Since Whole Foods in the area does not make my favorite cake (berry chantilly)… I am set on having a doughnut tower/platters of doughnuts as our wedding “cake.” Anyone ever do this? If so, what platters/stand did you use?? Venue said that we can use their standard white platters to set them on, but was wondering about stands for the pretty factor!

I would get a tiered cookie stand and display them on that so you get the ‘cake’ look.
My dad did this for my mom’s 40th birthday years ago and just stacked them in a tower which looked pretty cool…
(I thought about doing a donut cake)

I went to a wedding in England last year and they had a Krispy Kreme dougnut cake. I can’t remember the type of stand that they used, but they did have a tier on top to put their ‘cake topper’… A bride and groom lego couple. The doughnuts were delicious 🙂

You can use a tiered dessert stand and place the donuts on their sides or vertically
or stack them on themselves

imnotorange: I went to a wedding where that was the groom’s cake. All the donuts were piled in a pyramid shape, they were SOO good. make sure you have lots of napkins

I’m doing a doughnut cake!! i went to an antique market and bought 3 3-tiered tea cake stands. I’m going to put my funny pug bride and groom on the top of one and the real bride and groom on the top of the other. I love doughnuts, I’m excited for them!

I wish I knew this was a thing when we got married, I would have begged hubs for this! I am so freaking jealous. I love the idea of using cake-style stands and stacking them like a cake. Yum.

We are planning to do this! FI’s mom is really upset at the lack of a cake though…but julies1949‘s second picture with the small cake on top is genius! Might just do this.

I would kill to have a glazed doughnut, at a wedding. In fact, I’d be one of those guests to snitch 2 of them. On the other hand, I’d have to be pretty hungry, to eat the average slice of wedding cake. I wish my daughter could do this, but the venue requires a minimum cake price of $8 per person. Bleh…
