but as outside objective person to you. let me tell you that 20 pounds is an AMAZING accomplishment!!!! and i am sure you look waay better than you think. congrats on making it this far!

20 Pounds!!? That’s fricken awesome! I know exactly what you mean though. I kept telling my husband I would be happy if I got down to 10 pounds lighter…well now I am and I want to be another 1o pounds lighter! lol It’s and on going thing, but from someone else looking in, 20 pounds is something you should be so very proud of. You are your toughest critic too 😉

That’s a HUGE step towards your goal!!!  I completely understand the frustration since you’ve already done so much work, but there’s still so much left to do, but I think you need to stop for a sec and celebrate what you’ve accomplished (perhaps a new pair of shoes or a pedicure as a reward for your hard work)

Go YOU!!

20 is awesome– you should be proud of that accomplishment. But I know what you mean, too. I just lost 9 between Thanksgiving and now, and I’m not even close to happy. But keep up the good work!

Congrats!!!  That’s awesome!  I totally understand how you feel – but try to focus on that awesome accomplishment of 20 and keep your head in the game.  Every day counts and before you know it, you’ll be 40 down!

I know how you feel. I just lost 20 myself, am down 2 dress sizes, and I still grimace at my wobbly bits in the mirror.

But we’re all our own worst critics, aren’t we? I took a “before” picture and one after I’d lost the first 15 and comparing them does make me feel better. But I know I won’t be truly happy until I’ve sent those last 10 pounds packing.

Congrats to you!  But here’s a question to you and the 2nd poster…how did you lose the weight?  All diet?  If you do a lil more toning and working out (ok a lot more) you will be super happy with your shape.  YAY!

@heather25: That’s not always the case. I’ve always had extremely well-toned muscles, but you wouldn’t have known it from the extra padding I had on top the last couple of years.

Obviously diet + exercise is the ideal combination no matter what; I’m just saying that working out 5 days a week didn’t make a lick of difference to my weight or appearance until I started reducing my calorie intake.

@linguo42: Not at all what I was saying.  Once someone has lost the weight through just diet (or a significant portion of it) and they are still not happy with the way the body looks, they should consider adding in serious exercise.  I am sorry if that wasn’t clear from my original post…thought it was.

@heather25: Okay, I get what you mean. But there’s definitely a big difference between not liking your shape and still feeling like you need to lose another 20 pounds, and just toning is likely not going to solve the latter.
