First off, this is Pooky. Beautiful kitty, right?
Well within the last week, this beautiful, mostly healthy girl went from fine to not fine. She went into renal failure about five days ago. She wouldn’t eat or drink anything, lost a lot of weight, had her cataracts return, couldn’t breathe when lying down so had to sit up all the time so was probably very tired, and was just skin and bones.
She’s at least 13 years old. Such a sweet, petite, good kitty. We rescued her from our neighbors who neglected and abused her. We gave her a good home for 10 years. Well yesterday, my parents took her back to the vet and it was decided it was best to put her down so she didn’t have to suffer anymore. She just had this look in her eyes and I could tell she wasn’t the same cat anymore. She was there and conscious, but Pooky the cat wasn’t there. Her eyes had a vacant look. Anyway, here’s the last picture I ever took of her, which was yesterday. This is about two hours before she was put down. She doesn’t really look like the same bright-eyed kitty, does she? Just wanted to share this beautiful kitty with all of you so you know that you need to cherish the time you have with your beloved furry loved-ones!
This is just kind of a vent here, I’m sad and I miss her. It won’t be the same without her.

@HuskerGirl: I am so sorry, I have lost my 3 babies in the last 5 years and know the heartache, I buried them in my garden so I know they are close to me, as with everything time heals, but allow yourself time to be sad! x

@HuskerGirl: Aww I’m so sorry about your kitty. Big hugs to you. I know the feeling, my Dad lost one of my childhood cat’s and the dog we’ve loved for the last 10-12 years within 3 weeks of eachother back in May. Losing a pet is never easy.

I’m sorry, it’s so hard to loose a furbaby. Let yourself grieve and over time, it won’t hurt as much. I know when the time goes for my pretty boy to go, I’m going to feel the same way. Just this morning, I thought I had lost him forever. My Fiance left the door unlatched last night and it was open this morning. Our cat is not an outdoor cat, but he went out and got himself all lost (we just moved so he has no idea where he is). Luckily, he was so scared, he was howling on a neighbor’s porch and my Fiance found him.
But for those awful 20 minutes, I truly thought he was gone. My heart was just broken. So I really feel for you. I hope you feel better soon!

I’m so so sorry. These posts always make me cry. We also had to put down my childhood kitty this past year. I know how hard it is and am truly sorry for the pain you are feeling. It will get better and you’ll remember the full life she had.
