Lately I’ve been feeling like I want to trade in my current rings for more simple ones…
Here is what I currently have:
I love these rings, I truly do but holy crap they’re uncomfortable sometimes! My e-ring is constantly spinning because it’s top heavy (can’t get it smaller size bc fingers swell sometimes and it won’t fit when they do) and it sits so high I hit it off of so many things. I’ve already had a loose stone in it. I honestly think I might be happier with a plain white gold 3 stone ring with no side stones and a lower setting and a plain white gold wedding ring. DH thinks I’m nuts. He says I will get use to wearing them… well it’s been almost 2 years for the e-ring and 7 months for the wedding band and it hasn’t happened yet 🙁 … I just can’t shake the feeling that i want something a little less delicate and a little more simple… But it does make me feel bad that I am even considering trading in the rings I was convinced that I was going to wear forever :-/ … Anyone else experience these feelings? If so, have you gone thru with the downgrade? Am I being nuts and should I give it more time? I would appreciate your feedback bees! Thanks <3

I personally wouldn’t want to down grade… but that might be just me. I look at my ERing & Bands as forever.
You might consider soldering them together for more stability.
OR having “Speed Bumps” put inside, so they are more apt to stay put than spin.
OR talk to a Jeweller to see if is possible to change the shape of the rings so they have “Square Bottoms” (aka Euro Rings) which fill make them sit better.
Hope this helps,

They are pretty, but it may not be worth it if you can’t wear them comfortably! But you may have some other choices…check out this thread:

Maybe keep the wedding band but change out the engagement ring? To me the wedding band is the most important part because that is the one you said your vows with.

I have similar frustrations with my set, so I totally understand. As pretty as some of these styles are, they’re not always the best for everyday wear.
If you’ve been wearing them for a while and haven’t gotten used to them, and you find it annoying and uncomfortable, then resetting’s not a bad idea. Your rings are better off being worn than sitting in a box. If you want to give it one more shot with these rings, perhaps try sizing beads as someone suggested, it should stop the spinning.

If your ring is uncomfortable, I totally understand you wanting to change it out.
My ering/bands are very wide, so while I’m at work they tend to get in the way. I don’t notice it at home much because I can take it off – Would be a little worried about taking them off at work as they could get lost/stolen.
I ended up purchasing a CZ set to wear for work, the bands are very tiny and much much more comfortable!

I don’t thnk you’re nuts. It’s been this long and you still don’t feel comfortable with them? If you still don’t feel comfortable and happy wearing them, for whatever reason, you should ask Darling Husband to take the idea more seriously. It’s not uncommon to “upgrade” rings, your concerns are practical and no less valid.

@This Time Round: +1
My original set (that I lost and am replacing) had the Euro bands and I absolutely love them. I hate when rings move around on my fingers. It should be an easy fix for a jeweler.

@a_marie13: I definitely say to wear what is comfortable and makes you happy! Go for the downgrade!

@fauxfaux: +1 agreed!
@a_marie13: My first wedding band looks exactly like yours! It really was uncomfortable! I wore it for a year before I got a compltely new set. I still have that band for sentimental reasons but I could not wear it long eaither! I would not blame you for wanting to downgrade.

My SIL wore her e-ring for 2 days and it was super uncomfortable so she got a new one that was set lower and more plain and she doesn’t regret it at all!

I wouldn’t consider going for something that’s a bit simpler as “downgrading.” It’s merely choosing a different style. (In fact, with a simpler band you can often “upgrade” your stone because you’re paying less for the setting, if you’re open to getting new stones!)
If you are both OK with this option, look into it. You’re wearing your rings every day, so they need to feel comfortable! You could always keep your current stones and re-set them in a new setting. At least then you’d keep a piece of your original ring with you.

TO @stuckinwonderland: Agree.
I am an Encore Bride… my current set is standard NA Rounds… but my first set were Euros… and they definitely didn’t spin around. Highly recommend… and should be an easy fix. “Square Bottoms” kind of pull all the weight to the base, and sit quietly in place. I am a BIG Fan.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for all the advice bees! I think I am going to head to the jewelery store this weekend and explore my options.. whether it be doing something to my original set to make it more comfortable for everyday wear or ultimatly getting something a bit more practical. I mean my rings aren’t like crazy big by any means (compared to some of the ROCKS I’ve seen on the bee) but I’m the type of girl who doesn’t wear a lot of jewelery and isn’t use to it lol. Either way I dont think I am going to RUSH into a decision… I still have the sentimental hurdle of “they’re my original rings” to get over if I do decide to trade them in. I do love them so much, I still stare at them quite often… but everytime I hit them off of something or they get snagged or they spin I’m like “get these rings off of me!” haha. I have friends with bigger rings that sit just as high as mine that aren’t have the trouble that I am but I guess everyone is different 🙂
I’ll update after my trip to the jewelery store this weekend! Thanks again bees! 🙂
