It was on Netflix and I watched it all in like three days.  I was absolutely obsessed.  I made Fiance watch it with me and he hated it.  He calls it one of my “stuffy” shows.  Sigh.

I keep seeing previews for the new season, can’t believe we have to wait so long. It’s so hard!

I am SO OBSESSED! I really don’t understand why there is such a huge gap between the UK showing and the US one. I’m trying to see if there is some way to order it on DVD before January.

I’m definitely looking forward Mary and Matthew’s wedding, and some great 20’s fashion of course! Does anyone know if Sybil is going to be in the 3rd season? She’s my favorite, but it looks like we’ll just be seeing correspondence from her…

@Holocene:  We have a similar wait to see US shows usually, so it’s pretty fair, to be honest. Dr Who is an unusual exception to the rule (being shown internationally on the same date) but I believe that’s partially due to shared funding.

@mrsbacon:  Me too! With home-made ice cream.

Ugh. I didn’t know that it took another 3 months! I usually just wait for it to be on netflix or hulu anyways. My Fiance and I love it! It’s one of the few shows that we watch together! My favorite character is the Dowager Countess. I just think Maggie Smith is so witty and hilarious.

@SpecialSundae:  Oh, I had no idea! Probably because I don’t usually watch shows, but this one is too phenomenal not to watch!

@Vidya:  Darling Husband doesn’t like it either, but my 7 year old brother is just as hooked as me and my mom. Go figure!

@Holocene:  Probably also because the US usually takes good UK shows and, instead of showing them in the US, re-makes a (in my opinion worse) US version of the same thing. So there aren’t that many popular UK shows in the US, whereas a lot of US stuff is shown here.

@VickyAurea: I actually think its really interesting to watch the US version and the UK version because it really highlights the difference in culture. I have been watching Law & Order UK and it is really interesting. They re-made the US version in the UK with many of the same plot lines, but the dialogue and police proceedings are different. It was neat.

@kerensa:  That’s not a show I’ve ever watched but I was thinking about shows I love like:

Skins

Shameless

Being Human

The Inbetweeners

Queer As Folk

Don’t Tell The Bride (my fave UK show and I can’t even watch a whole episode of the US one) – though at least that makes sense because it’s different couples not a re-make. I just don’t like the narration style.

Also the Office – but that isn’t something I’ve watched, just heard loads of people moan about the US remaking it and not being able to appreciate the original.

I mean, if it’s already good and already in the right language, why not just watch it in a different accent?

I am waiting for it on Netflix. So sad! Also on the awesome Brit shows, Sherlock has the new season out!! And Robin Hood. Yay!

I’m so jealous! I love Downton Abbey and Maggie Smith is my all time favorite actress.

I  watch a lot of BBC shows, thanks to Netflix.

my husband is obsessed with the UK Top Gear too

@VickyAurea:  exactly, if its a good show, give us Americans a little credit that we can appreciate it. A little culture never hurt.

I didn’t realize QAF was a UK show too! I definitely need to find the original now so I can compare.
