You can’t talk to people like that. Just ignore her, and play nice at any future family functions.

@Milan21xx:  I guess I’ll rephrase it then. Why the hell did you keep responding.

I’d be happy she wasn’t coming.  I can’t believe you responded that many times.  How can people talk to their family members like that?!?!

I know it’s hard to resist not responding but it literally drives people nuts when you ignore them.

You are just as bad and immature as her by acting the way you did. You can’t control how others act, only yourself. I can’t imagine what your Fiance must think. How old are you? This is just nuts to be that people actually communicate this way.

@mixtapehearts:  I don’t think she was being immature. She probably should have stopped replying to someone with such “grace” as her Future Mother-In-Law, but on her end, she was being very mature, especially in the face of someone as immature as her Future Mother-In-Law.

Okay…maybe I’m WAAAAYYYY out of line here, but my first impression is that she’s one of those hard drinking gits with a weird British sense of humour.  When she says “na ur alright” I thought she was giving you a compliment and saying “Just giving you a rough time and that’s my sense of humour”.  The “fuck ya” comment is often used as a “goodbye” by a certain type of English Redneck/ soccar hooligan. (They also use the word “cunt” as meaning just a regular guy or jerk, as in, “That cunt’s got another thing coming if he thinks he can block my telly when Manchester United is playing, the fecking arsehole”).

You didn’t get the joke, misunderstood the nuances of English Redneckery, took her seriously, and got upright and priggish with the Mrs. Moore thing and that pissed her off.

I don’t for a second think she honestly meant it.  I think she was drunk, being an asshole, and using that particular form of British wit.  Then it sounds like you sent the email around to other people, she caught wind of it, got embarressed and got twice as ornery.  My advice is to give her some time to sober up, cool off, and send her an email saying something like,”You dead yet, ya old bag?” which I believe is the English Redneck version of , “Hi, how are you?”
