Do you watch HGTV? I have a few favorite designers on there, so my advice would be if you have a taste that you like, use it as inspiration.

Off the top of my head, Home by Novogratz, Candice Olson and Sarah Richardson all usually have styles that I enjoy, so maybe you could start there?

@MrsFuzzyFace: I’ll be honest – the things you’ve posted don’t say “tom-boy” at all to me (I was and still am one).  They are very girl-y girl with all the flowers, butterflies, and bright pink and green.

mwitter80‘s picture is much more in line with feminine tom-boy, IMO.

Ok – with that description, here are the first few things that come to my mind.

I’d try to use the picture that mwitter80 posted as inspriation but maybe with soft green walls (not overly girl-y but would still work well with a non-tomboy room if she grows out of her tomboy stage).

I picture some sort of plaid or patchwork bedding (wall color may need to be tweeked to coordinate with bedding).  Here are some examples of what I’m thinking:

I also thought the dots were fun and a little less masculine while still not super girly-girl.

You could get some kind of a neutrally colored kids chair (this one is only $40!).

Harmony Kids Frontier Kids Chair Beige Micro

And then get a fun throw or blanket or pillow to go with it (maybe can pull in some yellow here).  Boys don’t tend to do pillows so a nice throw pillow makes it more of a girl’s room without being girl-y.  I fun bean bag instead of a chair could work too.

It would be a great place for her to curl up with a book or relax.
