Part of it is me watching Lord of the Rings, the other part of me has always loved the idea of an earth home/hobbit home. I have a feeling my husband and I are going to try to build one (provided the cost isn’t out of this world) for our next house and I’ve always wondered, anyone else have any strange ideas for their home?
While this isn’t an earth home I love the look of this as well
this is an example of an earth home
I love the idea of green living, in our current place I have a garden which feeds us for most of the year, would feed us for more if I got better at canning ;D.

minimalistic beach house.

Spanish or Italian style villa with lots of open space, greenery and privacy. Think Diane Lane’s house in “Under The Tuscan Sun”.

Ideally the look of a country home, colonial, or log cabin with a crap ton of green features. Especially a good greywater system and a good way to minimally heat and cool the house.

We are reasonably green, but I prefer a more traditional home style. I mean, we are working towards installing a full array of solar panels, a geothermal heating system, and insulating & sealing the heck out of our current home to make it energy efficient. Plus we compost, are starting our own vegetable garden in the spring, will be raising our own chickens, have started a small orchard, and buy our meats direct from a local free-range farm. So we are pretty green, but you wouldn’t find me trading my center hall colonial for an earth home. No way, no how.

I just want to live near a beach…
I’m not green at all.
