We choose a once in a life time trip, we can go to the beach anytime we want. I gave my fiance the job of planning our honeymoon on the basis of a once in a life time trip. He choose Iceland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 weeks and 1 day to go until we are there!

I wanted a siteseeing adventurous type honeymoon, but husband wanted the relaxing beach one.  I gave in, and went on a ‘once in a lifetime’ (boring to me, and only time I’ll ever do that) beach vacation for the honeymoon… on the condition that I get my siteseeing European vacation the next year, which we did.  Win win!  ๐Ÿ™‚

Fun!!! I backpacked around Europe for 3 months after I graduated from college – PM me if you’d like my itinerary or some tips in where to go and what to do! But my number one tip is to buy a Eurail global pass so you and hop on anddoff trains at leisure….it’s the best for a fun, spontaneous trip!

    That sounds fun!

I wanted to be as lazy as possible so we went on a cruise… it was amazing! We saw new beaches/islands/places, went to Disney World and got to sit around in the sun 24/7. It was a first for me  for absolutely everything we did and I couldn’t have been happier.

I’m from the beach, I burn and I feel uncomfortable in a bikini. So a beach vacation isn’t my cup of tea. I also dislike relaxing all day.

I love adventure! Peru would be fab or I really love cultural stuff like seeing Europe. I don’t like museums as much, but really like seeing castles and old homes.

I’m not a fan of lazy beach vacations and never would have planned something like that for my honeymoon. We had a destination wedding in New Orleans and spent a few extra days there after the wedding, and we’ll be taking our “real” honeymoon next year (the plan is to travel around Sicily). Well I can tell you that as much as I was looking forward to having a few days to sightsee in New Orleans after the wedding, I was so. freaking. exhausted that I could hardly be bothered to do anything for several days. So now I totally understand the lazy beach vacation thing. Either that or scheduling a few buffer days between your wedding and your honeymoon!

Since you have a month, it sounds like you can afford a couple lazy days in the beginning. ๐Ÿ™‚

You need another option for city/urban adventures because that’s our most common type of vacation and our honeymoon plan.  We love exploring new cities, finding interesting new foods to try, discovering pubs and restaurants off the beaten path, seeing the sights, walking tours, and so forth.  We’d be bored to tears with more than 2 days at the beach— any beach— and we don’t have any interest in safari, backpacking, etc.

We’re going to Tokyo and Hong Kong, and even found a volunteer group in Tokyo (http://tokyofreeguide.com) that will pair you with one of their volunteers to go pretty much anywhere you want, and build a personally guided, private tour just for you.  Our guide is taking us to the Ramen Museum (yes they have a noodle museum!), the Tokyo Fish Market, a Japanese garden, and maybe even a kibuki theater performance.  Sounds pretty dreamy to me!

I would get bored on a beach, personally.  I like adventure, action, travel, seeing new places.  I would much prefer to explore a continent than sit on my butt in the sand ๐Ÿ™‚
