I don’t think you would be able to comfortably fit a wedding band with it.

As long as you’re okay with it being purple…

“Pink” amethyst isn’t acutally pink, though it’s one of my FAVORITE stones. I bought a bunch of pink amethyst jewelry for my mom one year and it’s the most beautiful shade of purple.

First of all, THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL RING!!!  I would wear that by itself in a heartbeat and never miss the wedding band; however, you could do what a freind of mine did (she was in the same situation).  She bought a wedding band to wear on the left finger and wears her engagement ring on her right hand.  Just a thought….

@racheljoy:  Hmm if you like peach sapphire maybe you should go with that… It would sparkle more and be more durable. That said, I do love the ring you posted! I just have an amethyst ring that doesn’t really sparkle and has chipped even though it is bezel set. Don’t want to discourage you from getting your dream ring and since amethyst is pretty reasonably priced you could always replace the stone if it does wear badly!

@racheljoy:  I think I actually read about a bee on here who LOVED her amethyst ring, but not too long after she got it, got a huge scratch on the stone and was heartbroken. :/

Amethyst is about a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. For perspective, Diamond is a 10, Ruby and Sapphire are 9, Emerald is an 8, and Garnet is a 7.5.

Okay, I just did some checking and amethyst is a  7 on the Mohs scale.  I have an Opal (a 6.5 on the Mohs scale) ring that I wear probably half the days of the year.  It has taken some beatings and has some visible wear to it.  I have had the ring for about 10 years.  I don’t know if that helps your decision

That’s gorgeous, you should get it! And if the stone does chip, you could always replace it down the line, but they wouldn’t put it in jewelry if it was just guaranteed to break, chances are it won’t. Also, if you still want a wedding band, you could always get a custom one made to go beside it.

You could do a rose gold wedding band and wear it on the ring finger of your opposite hand, I’m about 80% ure that’s what I’ll do (mostly because I like accessories to be evenly distributed).
