Hi girls!
Sorry for the delayed response! SO happy to find two brides with the same dress!! I was begining to lose hope ๐
MissPurplePurl: THANK YOU for the comments and especially for the link to KimmySumShuga‘s post. I love what she did with the statement necklace and bolero, and esp her sweetheart neckline, though I know that was part of the original dress. I just love seeing simple dresses being enhanced with the right accesories. Her words of encouragement really made me feel better about where I’m at with things right now and not feel too bad about not having the accessories finalized yet at 3mos out. I know I’ll find the perfect touches!
artdecobride: you look absolutely STUNNING in this dress! You have a great figure and I agree that you don’t need a sash. I love that your setting is helping guide your jewelry choice…I think this dress lends itself very well to the art deco necklace. And those shoes are a great choice! I love me some glittery shoes. You’re doing great with pulling the details together. Sorry if I missed you mentioning this, but what are you doing for a veil? Also, are you doing a trumpet slip with krinoline under the dress or not using a slip? I’m considering this one from David’s http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Fit-and-Flare-Slip-550
To answer your questions: The ceremony and reception are in the same location–a country club, but the ceremony will be outside on the lawn/hilltop. For that reason, I’m leaning heavily towards a wedge. I just think wedges will decrease the chance of me sinking into the grass and/or tripping going down the steps to the aisle! I also think I’ll be able to wear the wedges all night through the dancing.
I ordered these three from DSW and I’ll be trying them on this Saturday when I go for my second fitting to see what looks best (I tried SO hard to find glittery wedges, but my favs were WAY out of my price range: Jimmy Choos, of course):
#1 (my fav, but less comfortable than 2 & 3, and my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are coral) http://www.dsw.com/shoe/levity+willow+wedge+sandal?prodId=274044
#2 (most comfortable, but a little boring and wouldn’t wear again) http://www.dsw.com/shoe/nina+pultan+wedge+pump?prodId=274323&productRef=SEARCH
#3 (also v. comfy, and love the polished, contoured heel, but not keen on the flowery embellishment on toes and not sure about the navy) http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?fromPage=shoppingBag&category=dsw11cat270005&brand=&prodId=247534&no_redirect=1&skuId=58000000002475344120000M006.5&productRef=CROSS%253A&qty=1&item=ci8257082069′ defer=’defer
I think I’m just going to let the dress decide ๐
Re veils, I’m leaning towards a very simple, plain, chapel length ivory veil, which will match the length of the train. After the ceremony, I plan to remove it and just wear a hair accessory (yet to be determined…maybe a flower?).
Still haven’t decided on whether to go with a statement necklace or not, but I am leaning towards gold jewlery instead of silver. Still undecided on sash and neckline. I’m just an A cup, so I REALLY think the sweetheart style does me the most good. I guess I don’t really care if people can tell that it’s been converted, lol. As long as it’s flattering.
My Nordstrom appt was great! Even though it didn’t result in me finalizing the accesories, I still highly recommend it. You get individualized attention and can try on a wide variety of accessories (jewlery, veils, sashes, shoes, etc). It was not a pressured enviornment. I think it was a bit early for me to go since my dress hadn’t been altered yet, so I’m hoping to go again when I get my dress from the seamstress. I did walk away with some earrings that are still an option and a flower clip that I’m not sure will end up being used. But, I love Nordstrom and would recommend them in a heartbeat.
Sorry I don’t have any more pictures at this point…will try to post from my fitting this weekend.
Next major issue: hair. I have very thin hair and know I want to do an updo, but need to research temporary extensions for volume. If anyone has any experience with this issue, PLEASE let me know!
Thanks, lovelies
