I’m about to decide my wedding dress and I really need your help.
I am picking the dress between a pronovias A Line dress and a san patrick trumpet dress. Both of them are samples and looks beautil to me. The pronovias one is actually my size (the gown is in size 6) only needing minor alteration. The san patrick one are available in size 10 and 12, sell by two different bridal shops with same 35% off discount but almost $300 difference in their original price (one is around $1900 and the other is around $1600, but they both locaated in the same area).
I have 3 questions and need your help here.
1. Same dress with nearly $300 difference in the original price. Is that normal?
Should I double check with the bridal price with the higher price? But I don’t to be rude and make it seems like I’m countering their offer. 🙁
2. Will it change the look or the original design if I alter a size 10 or 12 dress to size 6?
3. Will the alteration cost be a lot higher if I go with the size 12 one instead of the size 10?
Thank you in advance for spending your time reading my post and providing your opinions. It means a lot to me! 🙂

Julieferrero: A few questions.
1) is the size 10 sample the more expensive one out of the 2?
2) are you sure you are a size 6 on the san patrick label?, you could be a larger or smaller size, and that changes your decision
3) can we see pictures of both dresses?

When I was ordering my dress I asked about what happened if I lost weight, and they said that generally a dress can be dropped 4-6 sizes before it becomes a problem. So the size 10 will probably be fine, but the 12 is borderline. How did it feel when you tried it on? You might be able to get an idea yourself, like do the cups in the trumpet dress seem way oversized etc? If it looks good once it’s clipped at the back maybe it would be okay.

Julieferrero: re: difference in price — are they the same or different fabric? Fabric (natural vs. synthetic) can change the price by a few hundred $

Thanks for your reply and questions. Yes, you’re right! the size 10 sample is the more expensive than the size 12 one. There is a $200 difference in total after discount plus sales tax.
Actually, you mentioned a good point. I’m not quite sure that san patrick runs the same size as pronovias. I thought they would run the same size since they are collecteion under same organization. I will double check with that.
Thanks again for your reply!
Here comes the photos 🙂
Pronovias_size 6, no clip needed when trying on.
San Patrick, both two size need clips, but I found the shape of size 10 looks better, especially in the bustt area. However, I’m not sure if the defferences were caused by the way they use the clips.
(size 12 back)

bitsybee: Thanks for your questions! 🙂 Those two are exactly in same style under same collection. They are only different in size and price.

Julieferrero: same style and same collection does not always equal same fabric. Some designers make a style from a collection available in different fabrics to help out more budget sensitive brides while still appealing to brides who prefer full silks.
It’s worth double checking. Otherwise, it’s just each shop’s markup.

Julieferrero: ok that is good to now. I would consult a seamstress first, the size 12 may cost more then $200 to take in. As for the pictures, I am usually one for a slimmer fit, but WOW I LOVE THE pronovias!!!! That dress is amazing!
