I have the same question. They’re probably going to have to take it up at the waist. The problem with my lace gown is that it is all over lace… not sure how they’d do that one. =/

Your dress is really pretty. I have no idea, I’m kind of wondering how much it will cost too. Not so much to hem the bottom but to take my dress in. I don’t know what goes into that.

I dont know.. I didn’t have lace on the bottom (and I got a hem-to-hollow), but I was told my dress would be super difficult to take in (at a private seamstress).. because they had to detach the lace, and then sew it back on. It depends on where you go honestly.

Im not sure how they do it either, but it does make since in the case of my dress that they would pull it up from waist… Oh my gosh.. I already picked a dress at the top of my budget PLEASE dont chagre me hundreds for alteration 🙁

Do you only have to hem? Or do you need to take in the top also?

I know, I’m scared too. I wish I would have gotten a price quote for alterations. I actually asked but they said they’d have to wait and see where I was weight wise and such when my dress comes in. It has to be taken in quite a bit at the top but everywhere else it’s fine. Good luck!! Does it just need to be adjusted for height?

Well the only size ive been able to try on has been a 10 and 12… im a 4 or 6.
So really not sure how it will fit in my size.
So im crossing my fingers that I only need to alter the height! I just fount a store that has this dress in stock in size 4…Im gonna go try it on and see how well that fits me.

Good luck!! Hopefully you will only have to deal with altering the bottom of the dress. Or maybe you won’t need to do that at all when it comes in the right size. =)
I know I’ll have to get mine adjusted because I had to try on a bridal size 12 (even though I am a size 4 or 6 in jeans) and it fit in the hips. Just the rest of the dress doesn’t fit. I was like say what when they said I was a size 12 in bridal sizes. Weird, guess the sizes are just different lol

They can get really pricey. I hemmed my lace dress and it cost me $350 for all alterations. Olive in NYC though too. So it varies on location as well. Good luck!

Yeah, I would think it varies by location for sure. I think NYC is one of the most pricey places to get married so hopefully it’s not that high where she lives. I live outside of DC so I’m a little nervous. I guess if the shop is too high you could always find someone else who could do it. I remember, awhile ago, I bookmarked a recommended seamstress alterations lady near me. But I hear she books up fast. Guess we’ll handle that when my dress comes in lol.
