I don’t have to change the neckline of my wedding dress, so can’t really help you there.  But during my bridal appts, I’ve been told that it’s possible to change the neckline for a lot of the dresses so I don’t know why you’re experiencing so many problems with yours, esp if they said they could do it in the beginning!  Do you have a picture of your dress and the problems you mentioned?

@HappySky7:  I’m so sorry. I’m in the same boat with my alterations right now, so I understand how you feel. I’m not able to take my dress to another seamstress, but are you able to take yours somewhere else?

@HappySky7:  What does your dress look like? I bet they’re being lazy or don’t have the skill-level to alter it properly.

I am so sorry! The only thing I can recommend is demanding your money back and looking to take it to someone else to get altered?

Did you get a bill/statement that says exactly what type of work was going to be done? If so, I would use that and say you had explicity been told they would be able to change the neckline, not rouch it, and if not, you are taking it elsewhere with a refund.

You’re welcome and I hope it helps. Some alterations people are much better than others I’ve seen, so I agree you should talk to the manager. Good luck!

Absolutely, but sometimes it can’t be done the exact way you want. I had my seamstress tell me my dress couldn’t be made into a sweetheart without taking the entire dress apart, which means it would have been better to just buy a new dress. BUT I have complete trust in my seamstress and she is really great, and I trust that she knows what she is doing! In this case it really sounds like the tailor may not be the best….I mean considering the other mistakes they made?

Maybe get a second opinion, otherwise the ruching thing can be done well and that is what we ended up having to do with my dress. Here is a thread with a girl PitBullLover that had a really great neckline alteration.

@HappySky7:  Hi there. I am sorry this is happening to you. I know your wedding is very close now. Please update us on the outcome, since I ordered the same dress and was thinking about making it a sweetheart too. Also I was concerned about the whole sitting in a mermaid dress situation, after I read some posts of bees saying it was very difficult. I am so anxious and can’t wait for my dress to arrive. Its going to be a long 4 months. I hope your dress turns out beautifully and that you have a great wedding day.

@HappySky7:  Can you sit down while wearing the dress? I am happy you still love it. Sweetheart or not the dress is a beauty

@HappySky7:  Can you not take the dress anywhere else?  The alterations person there doesn’t seem very competent.
