I havent started them yet. Am I way behind? Everyone keeps giving me this “deer in headlights” look when I tell them I havent had a fitting yet….should I be worried? Go asap? Or do I still have plenty of time?

@SaraLynne024: I think there are several different schools of thought about this. There are people who will tell you that you need to be entirely done with fittings six weeks before your wedding date, and then others who tell you that it’s best to have the final one as close as possible in order to ensure the best possible fit, since weight can and does fluctuate.
Another thing to consider is who you plan to use for your alterations. The shop I was set on is extremely popular, and is booked out far in advance. I was kind of lucky to get what I got, and since I’m out of town and having alterations done where the wedding is, it was take it or leave it.
If you know the alterations person or are getting them done at the shop you purchased your dress at, I bet you’re just fine.
However, I personally would go ahead and schedule them! You’re wearing Presca Marie, correct?

I think you’re okay, but I wouldn’t sit on it any longer. If you want to spread out your appointments, then that’s fine but leave it up to the seamstress to tell you when you are approaching the deadline for getting fitted. Don’t assume on your own.
Also, you don’t know how busy the seamstress is so you may have to get in line behind other weddings. Schedule your appointments.

I got a lot of different opinions on this. One seamstress is having me come in this coming week to take a look at the dress and give me a quote. Another said she doesn’t even start stuff until a month before the wedding. And of course, my mother is almost-freaking out about the dress and wants it done before August even rolls around. Seamstress #1 said that is not how things work blah blah blah. Mom is not happy.
Whatever, I’m sure it will get finished. This is not something I have been worried about.

My seamstress didn’t want my first app till 8 weeks out.. I just had mine about a week ago and my next is on 7-13…
I think you are okay but may want to schedule a fitting for soon 🙂

I’ve had two alterations appointments so far. My consultant recommended I come back about 2-3 weeks before the wedding just for a final final fitting in case I lose a little weight between now and then.
You should start soon if you want to make a lot of changes to your dress. If your dress needs a lot of changes you’ll need more time to do it.

My dress came in late, so my first one will be this Saturday and there’s supposed to be three total, but my seamstress said she’ll do it in two appointments since I don’t have much time left. I’m doing major alterations to the shape of the dress as well as adding bustling so we’ll see if she’s able to do it in one fitting.
I think you should go ASAP because you won’t know how much work is needed
