The buttons would be the less expensive option. They are just sewn over huge flap of the zipper as decoration and may or may not have loops to fit over the buttons. 

 

The corset would require taking out the zipper, re-shaping the back to open it into a V shape, adding the loops and making the lacing. 

 

I know I haven’t answered queer cost question. all I can attest to with regards tcoast is that when I was a bridal consultant, no one ever went through with the change-to-a-corset option because of pricing. However, if its what you really want, it would be worth looking into.
