I would definitely wait! You never know what could happen between now and the wedding – not that you’ll break up, but what if you lose more weight than you thought you would? Or what if you end up gaining a few stress pounds?

Mine was definitely a bit of a stretch time-wise (meaning that I had a relatively short time before the wedding – not “shotgun” or anything.. but only a few months) but I want to say that it was about 6 weeks, with my last fitting being about 1-2 weeks before the wedding.

If I were you, and you know who you want to alter it, I would book them in advance so they have you on their calendar because a good dress maker/seamstress will only have so many dresses she’s willing to work on at one time. Then I would just wait and see when they think you need to start the process.

I agree – definitely wait to ensure that any weight fluctuations don’t affect how your dress fits on the wedding day! 🙂
