So I went to pick up my dress yesterday from DB where I bought it from and they had 4 things to alter. They were supposed to shorten the hem, tighten the straps, bustle the back, and close the gap in the front. The only part they got right was tightening the straps. Let’s start with the gap, the tacked in the middle leaving bigger gaps in the top and bottom. That can be fixed. Ok so I am walking and step on the front of my gown. They hemmed the liner but not the satin on top. How do they screw this up? Ok so the lady starts to show my mom all 9 bustle points and none of the numbers match up and they have 3 #8’s. They finally figure it out and I look and the satin is about 12 inches up from the liner on one side and falling on the floor on the other. So the lady takes off the old ones and starts over. Then I go to try on my veil. They took a simple veil and sewed a nice beaded comb on to it. Simple right? No they sewed the comb on backwards. I could go on with what they did with my daughters dress but I won’t. I go back to see if it is any better Sunday. Is there usually this many mistakes after the first fitting or should it have been perfect the first try. I am worried because if they screw this up they don’t carry my dress anymore and I won’t have time to get another one. I am thinking this isn’t normal and there shouldn’t be this many issues. Help, I am trying not to freak out.
