I did, and it was more expensive than a typical seamstress. However, originally I had went to a seamstress shop, and she ended up flaking out on me, so I just went to david’s bridal. You know they will alter your dress and won’t flake out on you, and they also guarentee their work.. if they alter, say, the armholes and they it wasn’t enough, they will alter it again until it’s right at no extra charge.

Dreambee:  I did not have mine done at DB but at the shop I got my dress at. The cost will depend on what you need done!

Yes, DB is expensive for alterations.  I purchased my dress during a dress sale for approximately $480.  I believe my alterations were $432 (taxes included), I had quite a few alterations though.  I went with DB because they do guarantee their work and if they make a mistake during alterations they will replace the dress for free.

I am large breasted so I to purchase a larger dress and have the sides taken in.  I added lace cap sleeves to my strapless dress, and added in material under the cap sleeves so the lace wasn’t see through.  I also had my dress shortened because I’m only 5’2” and my dress was too long for me.

Dreambee:  I think mine were around $450ish, but I had quite a bit done.

I had the waist taken in, hips taken out, hem, armholes/chest taken in, halter altered. Each thing you need done costs a different amount, so the less you need altered, the cheap it’ll be.

Yes, they are expensive. I had quite a few alterations done because I was buying a sample dress off the floor, but the alterations were about $600.

Dreambee:  I’ve heard horror stories of David’s alterations. They just dont have the best seamstresses working there. Check on Wedding Wire for some reviews of local well-known seamstresses. Mine worked out of her house, but is one of two really well known DC seamstresses. She has a cap on how much she charges. 4 years ago it was $250. Did not matter what she did, she didn’t charge more than that.

I used a local seamstress and my alterations were $100 and when I lost additional weight she altered the dress again at no charge!!  Just look at reviews before you go and find someone with wedding dress experience.
