I too would love to hear more about people who’ve already taken the plunge in dress shopping.  I am so nervous  that I keep putting off even starting the search.

Don’t be nervous!! Wedding dress shopping was one of the most fun experiences of my life!! What specifically are you nervous about?

I was nervous at first as well, but I took FI’s aunt and cousin and it was SO easy! Take the minimum amount of people possile and then it will be SO much more relaxed. And remember, don’t lose sight that this is YOUR day and no one else’s! As long as you feel beautiful, that’s all that matters.

Try on a bunch of different styles, because what you want now may not be what you actually get. I wanted a big, sparkly ballgown and wound up with a super simple mermaid with just a touch of embellishment on the bodice because I loved how it looked on me! Keep an open mind, take a deep breath, and don’t forget to take pictures so we can see how gorgeous you look!

I totally know how you feel. I felt the same way before I went shopping, but as soon as I talked with the bridal consultant at the first store I went to, that all changed. I am very particular and thought no dress would ever live up to the picture of how I wanted to look on my wedding day in my mind, and that it would take forever to find, let alone decide on just one dress. But, I ended up getting the second dress I tried on. I was shocked! I love fashion and trying on clothes, so I thought that I would want to try on as many gowns as I could. But as soon as I put on THE ONE, I was done. And it was better than I imagined in my head. There is a dress out there for everyone, so just relax and have fun with it. No bride (that I’ve ever heard) walked down an ailse nude!

@NVACat:  You’ll be amazed at how beautiful you look in a wedding dress!! I would ask to try on a veil too. I didn’t even think I was going to want to wear a veil for my wedding, but it made such a huge difference in the look of the dresses I was trying on that I was sold on it! It really puts the whole thing together. Wear nice makeup and do your hair too, that will help. I tried on like 30 dresses and started to wonder if I would find “the one” (I found like 4 really pretty dresses but they didn’t knock my socks off) and then all of a sudden I tried one on and almost cried! Just relax and have fun!

It’s so much fun! Don’t be nervous, just take your time and I suggest trying the dress you think you love a few times on different days before committing. That should help make sure you really love it and don’t have regret later.

I was insanely nervous the morning I went shopping, but once I put the first dress on, I immediately calmed down. There’s not need to stress, just have fun!

Oh my gosh, I was nervous too! But honestly, it’s one of the most FUN, memorable experiences you will ever have! When else in your life will you get to try on the most outrageous, expensive, beautiful items of clothing, knowing that you will actually get married in one of the dresses that you try? Have fun, enjoy it! Try styles you wouldn’t dream of, honestly, you’ll have an amazing time!
