- Wedding: July 2011
I bought a dress in California with my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor. I live in WA and the wedding is up here and it recently arrived and my Maid/Matron of Honor checked it out at the store in CA and then shipped it too me. Upon arrival at first glance it looked ok, but as I took it out of the bag, I noticed that part of the ruching is unraveling at the bottem of the dress. Lose threads and stitching are noticeable throughout the ruching and the ruffle on the side of the dress was stitched or hemmed horriblly uneven and unraveling. I am shocked that they would even send a dress out looking like this. So, the dress shop told me that I could take it to a tailor here in WA and send them the bill and they would pay for it. I have an appt to take it tomorrow to assess the damage. Problem is, one of the unraveling threads pulled on the dress and know there is a slight hole in it and just like a panty hose run can’t be fixed, this has a run in the material. It’s a chiffon dress so it’s light weight, but you’d think the manufacturer would be able to sew it at least to match what I tried on in the store to begin with. It looks cheap and horrible and now I don’t want to wear it. It’s sad because I did like the dress. Now this experience is tainting it and it’s 5 weeks until my wedding day.
Should I see if it can be salvaged and wear a junkie looking dress to my own wedding, or try to get one off the rack somewhere? Anyone else have a similar story?
