My dress arrived last Tuesday (almost 3 weeks early, yay!) and I was able to pick it up and try it on (finally!) last Friday.
Recap: I ordered a simple sheath dress from AA earlier and while I “liked” the dress, I didn’t “love” it. I tried on sample sizes 2 and 6 and they were a bit too small/big, respectively. But I figured, WTH, I’m an encore bride and I probably shouldn’t care that much about my dress. When it arrived and I tried it on, the fit was TERRIBLE and it looked awful on me! I’m spot-on a size 4, and this dress (also a size 4) was too tight in the bust, loose in the waist, and absolutely huge in the butt/thighs (and I have an athletic build with solid butt/thighs). I cried when I looked in the mirror, and they were not tears of joy.
Around that same time, I saw the Dabra from the Enzoani Blue collection and the Enzoani Fatima, and fell in lust/love. Finally, one week before my original dress arrived, I tried them both on and I loved them, but didn’t want to abandon my first dress before it arrived. After my first dress arrived, I knew I couldn’t wear it, so I went back to the salon and ordered the Dabra on May 18th. It arrived on July 10th. I picked it up on Friday the 13th (ha, ha) and was nervous beyond words that it woudn’t fit well and would require major alterations.
Well, saleslady K helped me get into the dress, hooked the internal corset thingy, and then zipped me up. It was a PERFECT FIT! I took it to a seamstress that day to add a bustle (11 point over-bustle) and that was it. I don’t even need to have it hemmed! I am ridiculously happy that my new dress fits and needs minimal alterations.
I am completely in love with this dress (Dabra) and can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day. My fiance has no clue what kind of dress I’m wearing so I’m very excited to see the look on his face when he sees me.
What do you Bees think??
This is the sample I tired on (above)… please disregard the belt, it was temporary
You can’t tell, but I have the biggest smile on my face in these two pictures (above)
In alterations… there is 1 very lovely seamstress behind all that tulle, but I’m sure we could fit at least 2 more people back there and no one would know!
