Do you have a wedding website? We had more than a couple people make comments about wearing shorts/casual clothing to our wedding because it was an outdoor tented event. I put a note on our wedding website saying people had been asking what to wear so we suggested cocktail attire and a jacket or shawl in case it got chilly since we’d be outdoors. Also ask your wedding party and families to spread the word if anyone asks.

I like the cocktail attire idea!  If you are looking for less glitz… ie more like church dressy rather than evening out then you might find other ways to describe it!  Also don’t forget that your invitation should help people figure out what to wear.  A very formal fancy invitation will tell guests to dress it up, and a less formal more party at our house invitation will tell guests to dress down!

I love the cocktail attire.  This is what I ended up going with myself
