Hi ladies! So my wedding is a little more than a year away but I’ve been lusting over a dress for the last little while (Pronovias Pergola). Although I’m not a big girl, I plan on losing 15-20lbs before my wedding just because I want to look the best I can for my wedding.
I am asking you ladies this: do you think I should start looking at dresses now in my size and have it taken in when I get my fittings later on OR should I wait until January or so in hopes that I did lose weight and get it closer to size?

I’d do it now. They can always take it in if necessary.

Dresses can take up to six months to order in keep that in mind. I had no idea that it would take that long by the time I went dress shopping I had to select one off the rack. Not that I’m complaining my dress is beautiful!!

The boutique that I bought my dress from said that you can take up to four sizes off your dress without ruining the “intergrity” of the dress. Im no alterations specialist – but Im sure they would know since they sell thousands of dresses!

15-20 pounds is a pretty simple alteration for a great seamstress. You can pull the trigger now with no problem!

I would shop now and wait a few months to order it.

I’m on a mission to lose maybe 30lb before my wedding next October (11lb already gone!) but I’ve already bought my dress! I put down the deposit to secure it so I wouldn’t have to worry,but my fitting measurements aren’t being taken until Jan to account for weight loss.

@bikukii: Oh I didn’t know I could do that! That’s a smart idea. Thanks!
